What Is Diabetic Neuropathy?

The NS100 is a nerve-stimulating device that provides nonpharmacological relief for patients suffering from chronic pain due to diabetic neuropathy.

It has been proven to dramatically decrease chronic pain due to diabetic neuropathy for up to six months.

What To Expect During NS100 Placement

Here is what you can expect when you come to Milford Vascular Institute for placement of the NS100 nerve stimulation device:

1. It is recommended to wear a button down shirt on the day of your device placement so that it easier to get undressed when you get back home.

2. A medical assistant will take you to the procedure room and help you get comfortable on the bed. They will review any questions you may have and have you sign a consent form.

3. Your provider will discuss where you are experiencing discomfort and calibrate the device to suit your needs.

4. The provider will cleanse your ear and use a nerve-detecting wand to pinpoint where to place the four electrodes.

5. Finally, your provider will apply the electrodes to the determined areas. You may feel a small pinprick when each electrode is introduced. The device will be secured behind your ear. The entire procedure should take less than 30 minutes.

6. The device will remain in place for 20 days.

Post NS100 Placement Instructions

  • Do NOT get the ear device wet. We advise not showering as the moisture and humidity may damage the device. You may bathe from the neck down.
  • Do NOT play with or bother the tape on your ear.
  • Do NOT sleep on the side your ear device is on, if possible.
  • If the tape starts to come off or one of the tacks comes out, please call the clinic as soon as possible.
  • You may use dry shampoo to cleanse your hair while wearing the device.
  • You will follow up with the office one week after placement to ensure everything looks good and is secure.
  • The device will be removed in our office 20 days after placement.
